Frequently Asked Questions
Before we formally meet…
For all new therapy and coaching client inquiries, a free 20-minute phone consultation is required to ensure Wildwood is the right fit to meet your needs and preferences.
-
Congratulations on being ready to take the leap! Start with heading over to the ‘Connect’ page and submitting the info form to schedule a free phone consultation. During this 20-minute call we will explore how to best work together in order to fit your needs. We will discuss what is prompting you to reach out to Wildwood as well as factors like your scheduling availability and preferences.
-
Fees vary by service but generally range between $165-$200 (self-pay) per coaching or therapy session. More info can be found on the ‘Insurance & Rates’ page.
-
Kelsey is in-network with several insurance carriers and can also work with you on using out-of-network benefits if your particular insurance is not accepted. More info can be found on the ‘Insurance & Rates’ page.
-
Current availability will be discussed during the free phone consultation. For active clients, scheduling can be managed via the ‘Client Portal’ page, or by contacting Kelsey directly.
While specific availability varies and is subject to change, Kelsey generally meets with clients Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 9:00a-5:30p and Fridays between 9:00a-3:30p (all in Mountain Time, adjust 1hr later for Central Time). -
It varies by service. Generally, initial intake sessions are 60-75min. Subsequent therapy sessions run 50-55min long while coaching sessions run 50min long.
If you are ever running late, please let Kelsey know as soon as and whenever possible.
Note that if you are late, we are not able to make up for that time by going over (i.e., an 11:30am session will end between 12:20-12:25pm—this gives Kelsey time to prepare for the next session). If you are more than 10 minutes late, Kelsey will send a text or email to check-in. Kelsey will log off for the remainder of the hour after waiting for 15 minutes with no word and there will be a missed session fee issued. -
Currently, therapy and coaching services are only offered virtually.
Education services are primarily offered virtually but options for in-person engagement(s) may be explored. -
While there are some nuanced differences that vary by service, all new client inquiries start with an initial phone consultation. Following the phone consultation, clients will be invited to complete intake paperwork via the Client Portal and an initial intake session will be scheduled.
During the initial intake session, Kelsey will review policies and procedures. Then Kelsey will invite clients to ask any questions they might have and share as much or as little about their background, concerns, needs and hopes for growth as they wish.
The intake process is primarily focused on gathering enough information to give us a starting point for the work ahead. This process also allows clients to get a feel for Kelsey’s approach to that work.
More information can be found on the ‘Offerings’ page. -
While there are some nuanced differences that vary by service; at the end of the initial intake session, we will discuss scheduling options for ongoing appointments.
Throughout the journey of our work together, clients will be met with empathy, warmth, a non-judgmental safe space, and very likely a bit of humor and a lot of humanness along the way.
To best promote growth and change, clients will be active collaborators and contributors in the work and regularly invited to share feedback with Kelsey so that the process can be continually fine-tuned to meet their current needs.
More information can be found on the ‘Offerings’ page. -
Once an appointment is confirmed, clients are expected to notify Kelsey via the Client Portal or direct contact a minimum of 24hrs prior to the start of the appointment time if that appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled.
If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24hrs’ notice, and rescheduling is not possible within 3 business days, clients will be subject to paying the full appointment fee out-of-pocket.
Similarly, if an appointment is missed without prior notice, it will be regarded as a ‘no show’ and clients will be subject to paying the full appointment fee out-of-pocket. -
As with all things therapy—it depends. Meaningful and effective change generally takes time. Patterns of behavior, identity development, and the stories we carry with us generally were built over the course of several months if not years or even an entire lifetime. So redirecting those patterns, evolving identities, and rewriting those stories also takes (and frankly deserves) invested time.
That being said; if the work is effective, things should start to feel different and the therapy space should feel helpful within the first 3 sessions or so after the initial intake process. If you are looking to work within a more structured timeframe and focus more on skills to change behavior and less on processing, you might want to explore the Coaching services offered at Wildwood.

Your virtual therapy sessions are completely confidential. Everything discussed in sessions is only between clients and Kelsey—what is discussed in therapy stays in therapy. For couples/relationship therapy, all involved partners will be asked to review and sign a ‘No Secrets’ policy relating to sessions in which they meet individually with Kelsey. This policy will be discussed in detail during the initial intake session.
Exceptions do exist in order to promote safety and (if requested and consented to in writing by clients) comprehensive care when collaborating with other providers. Those exceptions include: If there is a reasonable belief that you are at harm to yourself or someone else; if (as a mandated reporter) there is reason to believe that a child, elderly individual or otherwise dependent individual is at risk; court mandates/subpoenas; and if you fill out a Release of Information form for Kelsey to talk to another individual.
The clinician (Kelsey) and the client(s) (you) will discuss if/when confidentiality needs to be breached and how to proceed in a way that best honors the trust built within the therapeutic relationship. -
Absolutely! Kelsey will always meet you where you are and follow along with your pacing. If/when you are ready, the space is there—but if you never feel ready, that is also okay, and you will still have said space regardless.
Kelsey believes that—even in the context of therapy—she doesn’t have inherent rights to your story. As active collaborators in their journey of healing and growth, clients are always invited to share as much or as little as they want . -
That’s ok! The free phone consultation is intended as a ‘vibe check’ to give Kelsey and clients an idea of whether or not they will be a good fit to start. And if at any point along the way things shift, we will invite a collaborative discussion on what adjustments can be made to better meet clients’ needs.
The therapy and coaching only ‘work’ if they are working for you. So if our approach isn’t working for you—let’s talk about it to see if we can get back on track. If it doesn’t seem like we can find our way into alignment, Kelsey will work with clients to connect them with a provider who might be a better fit.
